Brazilian energy giant Raizen and Chinese automaker BYD revealed a partnership to establish a robust network of 600 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across eight major cities in Brazil.
The charging stations are set to be strategically positioned in key metropolitan areas, including Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and six other state capitals, and operate under the Shell brand, just like Raizen’s fuel stations across Brazil and Argentina.
BYD’s and Raizen’s initiative aims to address the surging demand for EV charging infrastructure in Brazil’s rapidly growing electric vehicle market, and will potentially shape the trajectory of the charging station segment in Brazil, with Raizen eyeing a substantial 25% market share.
