Charged EVs | EnviroSpark to install and upgrade EV charging stations at 38 HHHunt multifamily properties in the Southeast

Multifamily housing developer HHHunt is working with EV infrastructure provider EnviroSpark to install and upgrade charging stations at 38 apartment properties in the Southeast.

EnviroSpark will install Level 2 charging stations at 24 of HHHunt’s existing apartment buildings in Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. The company will also install the equipment at 3 HHHunt properties currently under construction, and upgrade existing charging stations that are outdated or nonfunctional at 11 of HHHunt’s properties.

Residents will pay for charging on a kilowatt-hour basis.

As EnviroSpark CEO Aaron Luque explained to Charged in a recent interview, ongoing maintenance (or the lack thereof) has proven to be a sore point for many EV charger site hosts. EnviroSpark’s deal with HHHunt includes a comprehensive maintenance contract. A company spokesman tactfully noted that the real estate company has had “subpar experiences with other EV charging providers.”

Atlanta-based EnviroSpark currently operates 7,400 EV charging stations across the US. Other multifamily developers among its customers include Cortland, RangeWater Real Estate and Wood Partners.

HHHunt execs say that apartment dwellers have been asking for more EV chargers at their buildings. “Listening to the needs of our current and potential residents, it’s clear that accessible and reliable charging at home is a priority,” said HHHunt Senior VP Lance Goss.
