LOWVILLE, N.Y. (WWTI) – Lewis County Health System recently partnered with National Grid and Charge Point Inc. to coordinate the installation of Electric Vehicle charging stations.
The charging stations are located in the new Surgical Pavilion parking lot on the main hospital campus in Lowville. The stations provide residents, employees, and visitors of Lewis County Health System and motorists traveling through Lewis County to neighboring communities with electric vehicles charging 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Each ChargePoint Level 2 commercial charging station can charge two vehicles simultaneously.
The charging stations allow our community to charge their vehicle without leaving the area. Encouraging clean energy practices is one of the ways the health system can contribute to reducing our carbon footprint and promote a sustainable living environment in Lewis County.
LCHS Facilities Director Robert Fargo
ChargePoint will own and operate the chargers and handle customer transactions. Electric vehicle owners can charge without a ChargePoint account, but additional fees may apply. The optimal charging experience is with a ChargePoint account. If individuals create an account with ChargePoint, they tap their ChargePoint card on the contact pad, and the station unlocks and is ready to charge. Through the company app, users can quickly pay, find charging locations, and receive notifications when their vehicle’s battery charge is complete. To learn more about ChargePoint, visit https://www.chargepoint.com/drivers/activate.
The health system encourages individuals to move their vehicles from the station once the charging is complete.
