Electrify America, along with every other non-Tesla public charging network, has gotten a lot of negative press lately. Among the criticisms: sites need more chargers and more customer amenities.
In 2022, Electrify America introduced The Charging Station of the Future, Today—an initiative to add next-generation chargers and various customer-focused services at “flagship” locations. Two of the first flagship stations are located in Baker and Santa Clara, California—each has ten or more chargers.
Now EA has opened its first indoor flagship station, in San Francisco. Located two blocks from the Bay Bridge, the indoor charging station provides easy access for EV drivers visiting the South Market (SoMa) neighborhood. It features 20 next-gen DC fast chargers providing up to 350 kW of charging power.
The indoor charging station offers EV drivers 24/7 access and round-the-clock security. While waiting for their vehicles to charge, customers can make use of temperature-controlled lounge areas with vending machines, free WiFi and restrooms.
“We’re committed to making EVs accessible to all, particularly in dense urban areas like San Francisco,” said EA CEO Robert Barrosa. “Our expertise in building over 250 stations in California and more than 900 in North America uniquely positions us to bring high-quality charging infrastructure directly into communities where people live and work.”
