February 22, 2024 – To address the complexity and cost of adding electric vehicle (EV) charging stations to existing electrical infrastructure, Eaton offers its Charging Network Manager software.
“Electrifying transportation has a cascading impact on infrastructure,” said Paul Ryan, general manager, Connected Solutions and EV Charging. “We’re bringing end-to-end solutions for charging infrastructure to the table and helping customers creatively manage their options to quickly and safely deploy EV charging networks.”
Developed in collaboration with ChargeLab (a player in open EV charger management software), Eaton’s “automated and dynamic load management approach” promises to maximize the charging capabilities of existing electrical systems.
Eaton’s Charging Network Manager software is a fully integrated monitoring, management, and commissioning software solution for charging stations and networks. It monitors charging station energy usage in real-time, reallocates power as available to other networked chargers, and balances energy demand across 3-phase power systems.
“Software-based load management multiplies the number of EV chargers a site can safely support, sometimes by 10 times or more. This is a game changer for commercial and fleet EV charging,” said Zak Lefevre, ChargeLab.
