Charging stations for use of electric vehicles at Ripon City Hall and the currently-under-construction Fleet Maintenance Facility are in the works.
The Ripon City Council recently gave the green light on signing the Professional Services Agreement with HCS Engineering, Inc. to provide electrical engineering services required for the Electrical Vehicle Charging Station Project.
Cost of that is “to not exceed” $3,600 to paid via the General Department Capital Fund.
No discussion was necessary by elected leaders at their Jan. 9 monthly meeting.
Council approved the request back in April to apply for funds to install charging stations at city hall and the new corporate yard through the Congestion Mitigation & Air Quality / Carbon Reduction Program. The scope of the project consists of installing 10 charging stations altogether – five at city hall and five at the Fleet Maintenance Facility.
According to the staff report by Associate Civil Engineer Christiana Giedd, the grant amount received from the City of Ripon for this project is $528,000 of Carbon Reduction Program funds – this will be used for project construction – with the city being required to contribute $68,408 of local matching funds to go towards the project.
A portion of that would be used for the project design phase.
HCS Engineering, Inc. was brought on to handle the electrical design work.
HCS Engineering, Inc. is no stranger to the city, having provided several successful electrical design projects in the past, Giebb noted in her report.
