With the number rising, we’re also seeing more charging stations becoming available for drivers.

In Lexington, Tesla is building several off 13 Plaza Parkway behind the I-Hop Restaurant.

It’ll include four supercharger cabinets and 16 charging posts.

This would be the third charging station in Lexington.

Frank Newson, who was parked at the Telsa Charging station at the Sheetz off S. Main Street expressed how important it is to have charging stations like this in rural areas.

“It depends on how much you drive day to day. If you do a lot of travelling, you need to have place to charge. On any given day you need to charge at least once or twice a day depending on how much driving you do. To have in different locations would help Tesla drivers get from A to B a lot quicker,” Newson said.

The project will cost around $120,000.

We reached out to Tesla and City Officials about a timeline, and we have not heard back from them yet.
