WASHINGTON, N.C. (WNCT) — If you’re looking for a place to charge your electric vehicles, there is now a new spot in Washington.

The city has installed three charging stations, each with two charging units on them. It will cost you about 15 cents per kilowatt to use the machine, which is around market value. All of the money goes back to the city.

“We’ll most likely reinvest it into additional charging stations in the future. again, it’s something that’s new here in the community so we are monitoring usage, but hopefully, it is a well-used amenity,” said Jonathan Russell, Washington City Manager.

The city was able to pay for the stations with a grant through the State Department of Environmental Quality. The chargers are in the new parking lot behind the police station on North Bridge Street.
